Pharmaceutical Chemistry deals with the synthesis, analysis, the molecular characterization of drugs and with the investigation of drug-target interactions and its cellular effects. The Institute of Pharmaceutical Chemistry holds four professorships in Pharmaceutical Chemistry on the topics

  • instrumental analysis (Prof. Karas)

  • medicinal chemistry (Prof. Stark)

  • analysis of natural drugs and drug synthesis (Prof. Schubert-Zsilavecz)

  • biochemistry and pathobiochemistry (Prof. Steinhilber)

 Jointly with OCCB, the Institute holds a CEF-professorship in

  • chemical biology and medicinal chemistry (Prof. Heckel)
